Welcome to the SoCal Hikers and Peakbaggers Group. We are a group of people who enjoy sharing our love of hiking, backpacking, and scrambling to the tops of mountains to enjoy the view. I started this group as a way to bring Hikers together that want to enjoy the vast array of trails, intense beauty, and local history of the San Gabriel Mountains. This group is for hikers of all levels who want to explore the beauty and incredible trails of the San Gabriel Mountains, and the rest of Southern California. As our name suggests, many of our hikes will begin early in the morning, although we have regular evening hikes as well. The early starts allow us to hit the trails (and the parking lots) before the crowds set in, and by starting early we also finish all but our longest hikes before noon. Most of us work during the weekend! This is a group for those of you whom love the outdoors and love to hike and camp but only have the weekends to do so. Well, although some day hikes will be posted most will consist of overnight to multi day trips ranging from the northern sierras to Joshua tree through all four seasons. Founded in 1920, Nature Friends LA is one of southern California's oldest outdoor hiking and recreation clubs. We are a private, non-profit organization and welcome hikers and nature enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy weekly jaunts in the San Gabriels, monthly gatherings at our rustic alpine clubhouse (built in 1924) in Sierra Madre, and occasional treks into the wild.
