This is a group for fit hikers. While the trails aren't dangerous, they are usually very steep. Trail shoes of some sort will make your hike easier, though hiking boots aren't typically needed. Ideally our hikes will be 1 1/2 - 3 hours long, including significant elevation gain. Ideally at least 1500'+, and be 5-11 miles long. We will hike to the summit, then where possible, and if you want to, run part or all the way back out. Everyone goes at their own pace, we don't wait for slower hikers* …
I decided to start this group for people in-between San Francisco and San Jose. I also have found it difficult to find groups that meet later in the day on the weekends. I'm not a morning person so I like to hike but prefer to go later in the day. During the week--M-F, my ideal time to hike is 9ish and would love to find others who find that this is their ideal time to hike too! I usually hike at Edgewood or Pulgas Ridge. Pulgas allows dogs--I like dogs but don't have one. Edgewood does not all …

This group was started to accommodate hikers and outdoor enthusiasts who want to go on organized hikes during the week. Whether due to mid-week days off, flexible work schedules, retirement or kids in school, if you have days/time off during the week and want to get out and enjoy the wonderful hiking we have in the south bay, this is the group for you. All hiking levels are encouraged to join and we welcome members of other hiking groups in the area as well. We welcome feedback and suggested hik …
… With respect for our trails and fellow trail users, hikes in this group are kept to small sizes (6-8 hikers). Anyone wanting to share a favorite trail, feel free to email the organizer. We look forward to meeting you and your dogs on the trail.
We're a bunch of open-minded hikers in the East Bay in their 20's and 30's that love to stay active! This is a sister group of BAAA (Bay Area Anything Active). We suggest you check out that group as well! It covers more than just hiking too, and has events all around the Bay! http://www.meetup.com/anythingactiv

(Fremont / Union City / Newark) A fun local way to stay in shape for those longer weekend hikes with other groups or just to stay healthy and meet new people. Beautiful panoramic views of the bay area all the way from San Jose to San Francisco. Let fun social activity pull you outdoors after work rather than having to push yourself to exercise by yourself. Initial plan is for about 1 to 1.5 hour hikes on week nights during daylight savings time starting at about 6:00 PM.
Whenever and wherever but not to commute so far to hike. I have identified atleast 20 hiking places in the near vicinity. Minimum hikers should be 2 to schedule the event...
This is a group for anyone with an interest in backpacking and those who are strong hikers but have never backpacked before are most welcome. … Since other hiking groups are already meeting the needs of slower hikers, we will allow everybody to challenge themselves by hiking at the speed they chose. This may mean that some people are left behind. Also, many of us need to get to work after the hike and will need to keep up a good pace in order to get a good workout, complete the hike, and be able to get to work on time afterwards. Please take this into consideration when deciding whether you want to sign up for a hike. This said, we do t …

This is a group for folks who like to do fast, short, steep hikes in the Peninsula. Windy Hill, Hamms Gulch, and the like. Hikes in the 3-7 mile range, with 1K+ ft vertical gain, done in 2-3 hours. Pace is between fast walk and a slow jog.
A hiking/walking group for retired and semi-retired men and women. Good hikes, good conversation, good fun. We walk every Monday morning, normally 5-6 miles, at various locations in the south bay. Lately, our hikes have been on level terrain with an occasional hike in the hills. Please join us.
Southbay Ramblers is a Bay Area hiking group that was formed in the South Bay with the goal of gathering people together to have fun, while getting plenty of exercise and making new friends. The South Bay Ramblers Hiking Group has been in existence since 2005 and we have been offering community hikes at least twice monthly since that time. Our hikes generally cover six to ten miles and can be fairly strenuous. Our group has many wonderful organizers who are avid hikers who post regular hikes on …

“Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the green deep woods. Here grow the wallflower and the violet. The squirrel will come and sit upon your knee, the logcock will wake you in the morning. Sleep in forgetfulness of all ill.”
