… We are continually told by new members that our group is incredibly friendly and supportive - for example one new member told us "hands down, the friendliest and most supportive group of hikers I have ever hiked with. I particularly like the way everyone cheers when someone finishes the hike." Hikes and events will occurr in the North Bay, East Bay, SF, and South Bay, depending on hiking conditions, time of year, where people want to hike, etc. All events include a group picnic lunch as well a …

Most hikes will be between 12 to 15 miles with at least 2,000 feet of climbing. Most of our regular hikers like a 2.6 mph or faster pace (lead hikers are 3 mph+). We wait for the group at trail junctions and all are free to hike at their own pace. You should be able to hike at least 2.5mph to fit in with our group. Group is best suited for experienced hikers or people who are in good to great physical condition and interested in adding some hikes to their fitness routine while enjoying our great …
This group is a "sister" group to East Bay Walkers (run by my brother Mike). We're a group of 30's/40's/50's hikers who want to get some exercise and explore the Bay Area on moderate hikes that are 2 to 4 hours in length. Most of the hikes will be on well-developed trails, and will be geared-toward the novice to intermediate-level hiker. Experienced hikers are also welcome, and we'd enjoy learning about some of your experiences. Note that the main intent for the organizers of this group is to ge …
I decided to start this group for people in-between San Francisco and San Jose. I also have found it difficult to find groups that meet later in the day on the weekends. I'm not a morning person so I like to hike but prefer to go later in the day. During the week--M-F, my ideal time to hike is 9ish and would love to find others who find that this is their ideal time to hike too! I usually hike at Edgewood or Pulgas Ridge. Pulgas allows dogs--I like dogs but don't have one. Edgewood does not all …
… With respect for our trails and fellow trail users, hikes in this group are kept to small sizes (6-8 hikers). Anyone wanting to share a favorite trail, feel free to email the organizer. We look forward to meeting you and your dogs on the trail.
We're a bunch of open-minded hikers in the East Bay in their 20's and 30's that love to stay active! This is a sister group of BAAA (Bay Area Anything Active). We suggest you check out that group as well! It covers more than just hiking too, and has events all around the Bay! http://www.meetup.com/anythingactiv

We hike in Marin, an outdoor paradise; where every hike may become your new favorite hike. With over 600 miles of trails, it's a hikers dream and local to the San Francisco Bay Area. An informative description of hikes will be posted when scheduled. Many hikes are chosen from "Hiking Marin" by Don and Kathy Martin. "Marin Hiking Meditation" is a hiking group in Marin California that combines hiking with meditation. Some of us have meditated for years, but most of us have little or no experience …

“Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the green deep woods. Here grow the wallflower and the violet. The squirrel will come and sit upon your knee, the logcock will wake you in the morning. Sleep in forgetfulness of all ill.”

This group aims to do meetups centered around anything that makes you sweat! It all started with a 20's & 30's Hiking Meetup, but the scope of this group is practically unlimited. Hiking, multi-day, running, bicycling, kayaking, rafting, tennis, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, paddle-boarding, wake-boarding, bungee jumping, skydiving, swimming, rock climbing, bouldering, spelunking - If it can be done with a group, suggest it and let's make it happen! While we love our men and our guy friends, experiencing the outdoors with a group of women is a different game. When it comes to the outdoors, we believe in equity, not necessarily equality. (Don't understand what we mean by that statement? Come check us out and you'll discover the true meaning!) We believe in physical strength, but also the inner strength of great women. We believe in a caring and nurturing community, where all women are free to be themselves - safe to admit their weaknesses, s …
If you're 30 and above, you should join us! Whether you're single, got a family, gay, straight, a local or just recently located to the Bay Area from another city/state/country, everyone's welcome! We're a group of fun-loving, down-to-earth and friendly people who camp, hike, backpack, raft and all that other fun, outdoor stuff! But not only that, we also love to just grab a coffee/tea or meet up for brunch, etc. Happy hour after work? Pub crawls? That's us too! Volunteering and giving back to t …

This group is an experiment. This group was inspired by a friend's use of her mascots to document her overseas trip and then some of her hiking in the Bay Area Ridge Trail & More group. It added a humor and a personalization to her trips that is very fun and interesting. I would like to replicate and experiment with this idea with the creation of this group. So then, the purpose of this group is to bring out the innocent or child in us, as we hike or travel, through the persona of a mascot. This …

Est-ce que vous parlez francais? Est-ce que vous aimez faire de la randonnée? Come out hiking and speak some french!
We're pretty much the most active backpacking specific group in the bay area. From beginner to expert our people are the best. We get outdoors a lot but also have non-backpacking social events. In the summer it's all about the backpacking and in the winter we try to have a range of activities from snow camping to resort skiing days. So if you want to meet other outdoors enthusiasts, whether you're a hardcore hiker or an aspiring novice, sign up. To connect with other members make sure to c …

While backpacking in Patagonia, every evening I would look forward to going to the base camp kitchen. It was a circular space with glass windows all around. There were tables along the windows where fellow hikers would take turn to cook their meals. And then, they would sit around the communal tables eating their meals and talking to other travellers. On many such evenings, I enjoyed trading stories with people from different parts of the world such as Germany, Brazil, Belgium, India, China a …
