We are a diverse group of hikers who enjoy being outside, enjoying others company and getting some exercise in at the same time. Many of our Meetups are in RCSP, but we will venture out to other parks, arboretums, etc., in the vicinity, at the suggestions of our members and organizers. I am starting this group due to the fact one like it doesn’t seem to exist. There are plenty of hiking groups I have found in Philadelphia area, they all seem to fall into one of two groups. First kind of “hiking” group is for the slightly older crowd, mostly people in their 40s and 50s to take a leisurely hike around an arboretum. This would be perfect if I was 15 years older. We walk and hike at a moderate pace of about a mile per 30 minutes in suburban Philly parks and main street towns. We will accommodate beginning walkers and hikers. No one will be left behind from the group as we hike/walk. If there is any nature item that is of interest we will stop to look. There is a $10 per calendar year fee or $2 fee per person including any guests you may bring to each walk to cover meetup website costs. Hiking Around Philly is different from most hiking groups because we hike (and sometimes bicycle) off the beaten path. We hike in the woods and the city. We go places that won't be found on any hiker's map. The events are usually within a 1.5 hour drive from Philly, though we sometimes visit NYC or the Jersey shore.
